The Training Band’s First Major Concert!

This year’s major concert is important because the training band will be performing. This is their first major concert, and I feel personally privileged to be a part of it. I have helped out the training band since its relaunch in June 2017, but at the beginning of this year I was asked to take over direction of the band. I was so excited, but nervous about having responsibility over a band. I am so happy that I took the position and it has been such a good experience. I am so excited to show everyone what the training band has learnt over the past year and what they are capable of now.

I started my Werribee Concert Band journey 10 years ago in the first training band, so this experience is very special to me. The Werribee Concert Band has taught me many things, not only about music but about myself. It has helped me grow as a person and I have met some amazing people and made great friends along the way.

The training band will be performing three pieces for the major concert, as well as one combined piece with the senior band. The training band has been working tirelessly for weeks in preparation for their upcoming performance in August.

At the present time, we have approximately 15 members, with a few members from the Senior Band helping out or learning a new instrument. However, we are always looking for new members, regardless of their musical experience or ability.

The Training Band rehearses every Thursday from 5:45-6:45pm in Werribee South.

If you are interested in getting involved with the Werribee Concert Band Training Band, please contact Caitlin Matthews on 0434 321 072, or visit our any one of our Facebook pages. You are more than welcome to visit us during rehearsal as well!
