Harrison Merrifield
Harrison shares a long history with the Werribee Concert Band, first joining in 2011, before later becoming Assistant Musical Director in 2021 and Musical Director in 2022. Harrison has been involved in community banding for several years, having previously guest conducted a range of community and school ensembles.
In 2022, Harrison completed the ABODA Victoria Summer Conducting School, where he was mentored by Dr. Nicholas Williams, Amy Wert and Dr. Andrew Mathers, refining his skills as a conductor. When not directing, Harrison is principally a trumpet player having graduated from a Bachelor of Music (Performance) degree at the University of Melbourne where he studied with Dr. Joel Brennan and Julie Payne.
Having completed his Master of Teaching (Secondary) degree, also at the University of Melbourne, Harrison is now the Assistant Head of Music (Cocurricular) at Wesley College, St Kilda Road Campus. It is through his work, and his involvement with the Werribee Concert Band, that he has the opportunity to pass on his passion for music, and love for wind bands.
